Xavier Dupré’s Itinéraire Typographique

Xavier Dupré’s Itinéraire Typographique

This recent look at Dupré’s body of work is the book your shelves have been missing.

You’d be hard pressed to find a type enthusiast who doesn't have a constant ear to the ground for books. Whether it’s bidding for type specimens on eBay, finding a gem at the rare books store, or ordering one of the plethora of new books online, the discovery and acquisition of any good book can border on obsession.

For those who know this feeling well, there’s a chance you may have already picked up a copy of Xavier Dupré’s “Itinéraire Typographique.” But if you’re the type who’s not so hip to the hunt, say hello to a valuable collection you may have missed.

Xavier Dupré is a highly lauded French type designer whose work you’ve likely seen in countless annuals and magazines as well as high profile collaborations with type foundries across the globe. Now in the prime of his type career, he has created types in every style and has pushed his work into new challenges in language support and calligraphic experimentation. With nearly every project, it seems, Dupré is able to move the ball a little further down the field of typographic style.

In “Itinéraire Typographique,” we get a splendid view at his work in the form of a long interview with Julien Gineste and a robust amount of images and type specimens. The 128-page book also features an introduction by Rudy Vanderlans, sketches, and more insight into Dupré’s design process and celebrated releases than ever before.

“Itinéraire Typographique” was first published by -zeug in 2016,  and is available along with several special edition copies in their online store. Established by Sandra Chamaret and Julien Gineste in 2016, -zeug is focused on exploring the fields of design and typography through a variety of publishing projects. Discover the work of Xavier Dupré and all the rest of -zeug’s products online, and happy hunting!
