“Pop Culture Typography”

Melbourne-based animator Isaac Moores spent a year recreating title and poster art from some of the most recognizable movies, television shows, and music videos, matching every piece of typography along the way. Moores drew the video’s replacement text and music from Madeon’s Pop Culutre, an electronic mashup song that, itself, samples from some of the most recognizable pop songs.

While not typographically revolutionary (the video content is a series of stylistic clones) the impressive animation provides a succinct survey of the type used in on some of America’s most popular pieces of media. In other words, the video’s type is what the public sees most often.
