Tobias Frere-Jones’s specimen collection: Now on postcards
Typographers may be familiar with Princeton Architectural Press through their uber-popular Thinking with Type by Ellen Lupton or their underrated Typographic Layout Systems by Kimberly Elam. And while the specialized publisher continues to release architecture, art and design books each season, it has expanded its portfolio to include ephemera—in this case, typographically lush postcards.
Curated by Tobias Frere-Jones and selected from his personal collection of type specimens, the deck of fifty cards features striking imagery of original French, German, American, and British typefaces. Delivered and kept in a small cloth box, reminiscent of a vintage specimen book, the set is available in November.
